HomeServices

Two services. One standard of care.

Sonder & Solace provides supervised visits and observations in the child's home — and in agency vehicles that meet all provincial licensing, insurance, and safety requirements.

01 — Supervised Visitation

Monitored time, gently held.

A trained staff member is present with the child for the full duration of every visit — observing, supporting, and intervening if needed. Visits and observations take place in the child's own home, the most familiar environment for them, supporting calm and natural interactions rather than clinical ones.

  • Constant supervisionA dedicated staff member is in the room with the child and visiting party from arrival to departure — never out of sight, never out of earshot.
  • Strict adherenceEvery visit follows the exact terms of the court order, agency directive, or child-welfare agreement on file — duration, location, who attends, what's off-limits.
  • Objective documentationStaff produce factual, time-stamped observation reports suitable for child welfare agencies and courts. We document what we see — not what we infer.
  • Trained interventionOur team is trained to recognize escalation early and to redirect, pause, or end a visit if a child's safety or emotional well-being is at risk.
  • Reunification focusWhere reunification is the case plan, our consistency helps build the trust and behavioural evidence that supports the family's progress.
02 — Safe Transportation

Continuous duty of care, door to door.

Safe, reliable, and supervised transportation of children and youth between locations — in accordance with agency policy, court orders, and Alberta safety standards. The same staff member who picks the child up stays with them until handoff.

  • Authorized transportAll transportation is provided by trained, authorized agency staff in vehicles that meet provincial licensing and insurance requirements. No subcontracted drivers.
  • Comprehensive coverageTransport to and from supervised visits, medical and dental appointments, school, court appearances, therapy, and approved community activities.
  • Risk reductionRemoves the safety and compliance gaps that come with unsupervised travel, informal rides, or transitions between multiple unrelated parties.
  • Continuity of careThe supervising staff member maintains a continuous record of the child's state and surroundings from pickup through handoff — supporting consistent reporting.
  • Equipment & standardsAge- and weight-appropriate car seats and booster systems, current vehicle inspections, and route plans documented in advance for every transport.

Visits and observations take place primarily in the child's own home — the environment that is most familiar and settling for them. Where home is not appropriate, or the referring party directs otherwise, sessions may be held at an alternative location agreed in advance during the service plan step.
Alberta Children's Services caseworkers, legal representatives acting on behalf of a family member, and private families seeking voluntary supervision. All referrals are reviewed against the documentation provided to confirm fit before service begins.
A factual, time-stamped record of what took place during the visit or transport. We document who was present, what was said and done in our presence, and any incidents or interventions. We do not interpret behaviour, assess parenting capability, or make custody recommendations.
We acknowledge every referral within 24 hours. From there, case review and service plan typically take three to five business days, depending on the complexity of the order and any logistical requirements.
Staff are trained to redirect, pause, or end a visit if a child's safety or emotional well-being is at risk. The referring party is notified the same day and a written incident report is provided. Critical concerns trigger our internal escalation protocol immediately.
